2008 Louise Tester Art Show

Louise Tester’s work will be included in The Coral Gables 2008 Art on the Mile Show set for March 8th and 9th, 2008. This is the 10th Anniversary of the event, which attracts tens of thousands to the City’s famous Miracle Mile. “This is the first juried show we applied for and we were accepted,” said Gallery Manager Lourdes Tester, “we are slowly expanding Louise’s exposure in the South Florida Art Community and this is a great step and honor.” The event will place Louise’s work among regional artists from the South Eastern United States and Latin America.

The Art of Louise Tester will open the spring art season with the Schenely Park Art show February the 9th, 2008 at 10-4:30pm. The annual event attracts artists from the Miami area and has been a successful showcase for Louise’s original works and Giclee reproductions. This will be the third year the art work has been displayed in the quaint setting at the corner of Red Road and Devonshire Boulevard just to the west of Coral Gables and the Biltmore Hotel.

The Louise Tester Gallery was able to obtain one of Louise Tester’s original art works from a Southern California Art Gallery. The work titled “Brambles” had been in the estate of a collector and was obtained by a dealer. “We wanted the work for our collection of original works and through the Giclee process we will be able to offer quality reproductions for sale,” said Lourdes Tester. The 33x40 oil painting has a green tropical feel. The vivid work was likely inspired by shapes and colors from the garden that were visible from Louise’s studio in Napa Valley. The work was shipped directly to M&M Studios in Jupiter, Florida and has been digitally processed.

Schenley Art Festival 2007 - Miami, FL

“We worked hard to make sure this show happened,” said Lourdes Tester, Gallery Coordinator and that we participate in future festivals. Over the last year, we traveled to Arizona and brought back more of her colorful original works to Miami. They have been scanned and are now part of the quality giclee renderings that we are making available for sale from the Louise Tester Collection. Our plan was to prepare them for a local show that attracts a great Miami crowd and small select group that checks out local festivals looking for new fresh images. It worked; we made some nice sales, and linked with artists and arts professionals who were intrigued with the work of Louise Tester.What we have found is Louise’s art attracts attention in Miami. It attracts a cross-section of people in Miami including Latins who appreciate the art that reflects the 1950’s and 1960’s artists who produced modern abstract world-renowned art. We were surprised when visitors to our website and shows comment on how Louise was able to produce those very modern and unique pieces of art in Yuma, Arizona.

From The Gallery Coordinator Fall 2006

We are very exited looking toward the fall. A market for Louise's art is developing. We had an excellent trial run at retail in the spring, Louise's original paintings are showing up in galleries in California and Arizona, and she is now listed in Ask Art, the American Artists Blue Book. In addition we have found that one of her early works now hangs in the Sedona, Arizona Gallery of the Arizona Committee of National Museum of Women. This museum collection specializes in work by historically important Arizona Women Artists. We have been pleasantly surprised at the acceptance of Louise's art here in South Florida. Her style fits in nicely with abstract art produced in Latin American Countries in the late 1950's and 60's. We are making progress in the reproduction of some of Louise's more spectacular pieces. We have been working with M&M Studios in Jupiter, Florida producing high quality giclee prints. Several of the giclees including one of her most popular works, "Casino" are available for purchase from this website. In addition we have added smaller format versions of the works. We found that downsized reproductions work well for consumers who do not have room for some of Louise's larger paintings. We are approaching all of this slowly. We would like to show in at least four art festivals this winter and are planning a gallery opening.

For the last year we have been searching for the finest quality process to reproduce a limited number of Louise’s paintings. Finding a company that has the proper state of the art digital cameras, scanners, and printers has proven to be a challenge. We think we are closing in on an arrangement with a Florida based company that will produce high quality giclee limited edition prints of some of Louise’s best-known works. We have also spoken to several galleries that are interested in displaying and retailing her work. We are excited about the prospects of this venture.

Friends and family gathered to honor the life and work of Louise Tester. The event held in the Yuma Fine Arts Museum was an opportunity for those who knew Louise to enjoy a stunning display of her art work. "Our family was truly honored," said Hank Tester, Louise's son. "It was wonderful to hear Mom's co-workers and friends remember her years as an artist, arts administrator, and mentor to young aspiring artisans in the Southwest."

The exhibit was hung by Victor Curran, one of Louise's long time friends. "The show was absolutely wonderful," said Lourdes Tester, "Victor did an outstanding job and did it with love." Lourdes Tester manages the Louise Tester gallery and administers the LouiseTester.com website. Yuma Fine Arts Museum Director Louis LeRoy, Yuma artist Neely Tompkins and webmaster Ty Hartley provided valuable support in staging the event. Bill Clintworth shot the pictures of friends and family enjoying Louise's paintings on this wonderful evening.
